Sofia is a professional performing contemporary dancer, choreographer and singer who graduated in Contemporary dance at P.A.R.T.S. in 1999. Having started her yoga practice at the age of 13 years, she trained for four years at the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation (KHYF) to become a Yoga teacher, and studied Shiatsu with Sensei Kawada. She regularly practises martial arts. The forces of nature and the meaning of life have been the guideline of Sofia’s research through art. Relationships and communication are for the mother of two school kids the center of all that really matters.
Her courses, workshops and 1 to 1 coachings as a dancer mostly focus on Authentic Movement, Body-Mind Centering, Release Techniques, Floor work, (Contact) Improvisation, and Composition.
Her personal teaching approach underlines the use of imagination, both as a starting-point for the exploration of movement and as a meeting-point of mind and body. Her teaching is characterized by its creative methods, which aim to make the student capable of a simple and authentic contact with themselves. Among other things, this approach explores the potential movement/mind expectation and the capacity of artistic movement to enrich awareness and free will in everyday life.
