Hatha Flow Yoga uses physical movement to create mental stillness and is essentially a ‘moving meditation’, the aim being to energise the body and calm the mind. The class begins with some gentle opening warm up exercises followed by an evolving sequence of "Sun Salutations" to generate heat before moving on to hold various traditional yoga postures (Asanas) for a length of times to building strength, stamina and flexibility. There is a strong focus on the use of the breath and breathing techniques (Pranayama) to both encourage flowing from one posture to another and to centre the mind. Expect to feel calm and rejuvenated at the end of class. The class is suitable for all levels and variations for some postures will also be given for more experienced students.

Hatha yoga is the yoga tradition most familiar to Western culture. The term is derived from the Sanskrit ha, meaning “sun,” and tha, meaning “moon.” The practice aims to unite the active and receptive qualities represented by each celestial being. Practitioners of Hatha yoga use physical alignment and breathing control to achieve an equilibrium between the active body and its universe. The resulting harmony manifests itself as physical strength, physiological health and emotional well-being. Suitable for all. Benefits: On the physical level this practice improves i.a. balance and flexibility, increases strength and life force. Furthermore, it stimulates the cardiopulmonary function, the digestive, nervous, and endocrine system. Benefits on other levels include a deeper sense of awareness, increased self-confidence and well-being as well as a calm and integrated mind.
This Gentle Yin Yoga class is a slower paced class, designed for those who may be relatively new to yoga, or if you haven’t practiced for a while and are looking to ease yourself back gently or recover from illness or injury and looking for a gentler more relaxing class. In this class, we will explore how soft meditative stretching can be very helpful for easing areas of long term tension. Slow, gentle stretching can teach the muscles to relax, meditation and pranayama can help maintain the softening and reduce inflammation. We will incorporate some traditional Yin Yoga poses that stretch and stimulate the connective tissue rather than the muscles, so enabling very deep work on the ligaments and fascia that more yang (dynamic) yoga practices cannot offer. The postures will be simple and accessible. This is a very relaxing and revitalising form of yoga that is beneficial for both beginners and experienced yogis, and is a great complement to a yang style practice.
Tantra Yoga can be translated as “Be the most expanded you". Tantra is all about mindful embodiment, really feeling your body and energies. A typical class with Cony starts with a Mantra, call and response, to connect with the energy and vibration of it. Followed by a short meditation, centering, coming into alignment into this centered space within ourselves, allowing this to feel calm, open and in a confident position. Once we are aware and connected with our bodies, we start with some warm ups, to release any tension in our bodies. Sitting and standing movements. With Surya Namaskar, to balance the lunar and solar energies, Shakti energy is created. In the following traditional asana practice, we connect and feel the energy of the asanas, together with the energy centers. It’s a gentle and slow class, very mindfully honouring the divinity within each one of us. Open to all.
